With much controversy over how we should declare a champion in college football, I figured I would give my two cents in. I do understand that no system will be perfect, so I do not write this to claim perfection. But I do believe that this would be a step up from a much uncertain BCS system we have now.
Allow twelve regular season games, as well as a Confrence championship game (pretty much how it is now). Start on the last Saturday of August, playing each Saturday, and allow one Thursday night game each week. Allow each team an off week throughout the season. Doing the math, this should end the regular season no later than the
23th of November, and no ealier than the 17th of November. Play the confrence championship games the next Saturday, one week later. At the very latest, the confrence championship games would end on the 30th of November.
On the next day, the Sunday, have a selection show. This will give eight teams a shot at the NC, while giving other teams other bowl bids. The BCS can still be kept, but its function will be different. The eight teams given a shot at the NC can be in a BCS Tournament. Pick the current BCS bowl games and a few or so more, so that these games will be the host of the BCS Tournament. The tournament will be of seven games total (four the first week, two the next week, and the final championship game). Allow the tournament and other bowl games to begin two weeks after the Confrence Championship games.
The games should begin no later than the 14th of December. Allow the first round to be played on this day (no later than the 14th). The second round should be played no later than the 21st of December (the next Saturday). (Depending on the exact date of the start of the year, these games could be played on the 15th of December). By this time, all other bowl games should be rapping up. Play the NC game on the 31st of December, a New Year's Eve specialty.
The eight BCS Tournament teams could be picked from a committee, a given procedure of confrence chapions, or perhaps a BCS system taking the top eight teams, which of course, could involve the other two above. This allows lesser-heard-of schools a shot at the title, while also giving the elite programs a shot to put these schools in their place. There is plenty of college football, and it all wraps up in one year. And not just this, but the players do not play all of the time. Each team gets a week off through the regular season. Only the best of teams play in their confrence championship. There is a week off between confrence championship games and the Bowl games (including the BCS Tournament). And the BCS Tournament will only last three rounds, and extra time (a minimum of ten days) will be between the second round of the tournament and the NC game.

Bowl Games....
Well the SEC is now 6-2, with the greatest game coming up. UGA attested to my point that I believed they should be playing for teh NC with Ohio St. Oh well. If LSU wins, then I may put UGA #1 in my poll. The AU vs. Clemson game was a real good game. I actually missed most of the overtime, but heard it on the radio. UAT held on to the game against Colorado, after getting a big lead. I am currently watching Oklahoma vs. West Va., and it is 13-6 West Va. with 2:30 to go in the first half...oh...wait West Va. just scored as I was writing this! The beauty of college football!
And I pick Virginia Tech over Kansas, and LSU over Ohio St...just off the top of my head. I should have done a full bowl prediction, but I got out of the loop and it slipped by my mind. Oh well. It has been interesting!
Soon I will write about how I think the NC system should be done. I like the Bowl season, but some sort of playoff would make it even greater I think. But that's just me.
I'm exited about AU in the future, even though there is certainly work to be done. But we'll have to see! That's why the play the game! And that's the final word.
